The research seeks to answer the question of how the examination of camp diaries contributes to our historical knowledge of the deportations in Hungary. What can the study and interpretation of the diaries of a largely unknown group of sources – diaries written by women and men deported from Hungary to concentration and forced labor camps in 1944-1945 – add to findings about historical works on the history of the camps and the personal sources during the Holocaust?

This website publishes, in Hungarian and English, the history of the deportation of the diarists, a list of the camp diaries, a short description of them, and a virtual exhibition of women's diaries written in Sömmerda, a subcamp of Buchenwald.
